Major cost savings, instant vehicle tracking and high
level security from unique communications system

Comprehensive vehicle tracking, total driver contact anywhere in Europe for only 4.5p and proven savings of over 50% on bills, are only some of the benefits of the latest technology tracking and communications system from The Crosland Company

A recent arrival in the Irish market, The Crosland Company believe their system is the best around in terms of price, efficiency and flexibility.  Tracking a vehicle is vital in today’s just-in-time transport industry.  Customers require instant access to the exact location of their consignments throughout the distribution path.  Mobile GSM phone systems are the commonest ‘tracking’ device utilized by transport companies, giving a direct line of contact to the driver at all times.  However, this system does not provide vital management information and can be extremely cost prohibitive.  How many Transport Managers continually try to reduce the cost of personal calls?  A further downside to the GSM network is while in ‘roaming mode’, outside the home network, billing is added for incoming calls, which can often be higher than outgoing dialing.

One local company who has opted for the The Crosland Company system is Lagan Transport in Pomeroy who have installed the complete tracking and communication system into each of their 27 commercial vehicles.  On the GSM system they were paying over £300 per month for mobile phone bills, with 40% of calls unauthorized.  The new system removes the need to personally call the driver as the special in-cab screen relays messages at a fixed cost to the company.  The driver can return messages to the Pomeroy based PC from anywhere in Europe free of charge just by pressing a few simple keys on his in-cab system.  The first bill on the new system saved the company £150 on normal communication per vehicle.  Now Lagan Transport can see where their vehicles are 24 hours a day, induce a vehicle cut off in the event of the vehicle being stolen; relay an instant message to the office if in trouble; record the speed of the vehicle at any time; trace where the vehicle has come from; provide maps to show easy routes; and surround a dormant vehicle with a security fence which alerts the office or other allocated mobile phones in the event of unauthorized movement.

All this from a system which is cheaper to run and more efficient than GSM!

M.D. of The Crosland Company,David Cargill knows exactly what the transport industry want from a tracking system.  “The two most important things to any Transport Manager are efficiency and cost.  Unlike other communications companies, we are not offering a system as an additional cost to existing equipment, we have no hidden extras and we can prove our system will cost you less than the traditional alternatives while giving you much more in terms of information and security – vital value added products to every customer.

“The basic tracking system will offer a complete instant access facility via a PC in the transport office and a ‘box’ in the cab.  The system can be installed in either a unit or a trailer offering complete tracking, tracing and security options for less than £1000.  For less than £2000, £65 per month, (approx. lease purchase) each vehicle can be equipped with a screen for direct contact with the driver and a full two-way communication system for only 4.5p per minute.  The transport office has the choice of voice and Short Message Service to communicate with both the vehicles and the base.”

The secret behind the success of the system, is its use of the SMS agreement under the GSM network.  In basic terms, by using SMS Transport Managers can communicate with each vehicle at a basic cost of 4.5p.  The driver can return calls or messages or communicate with other drivers while on the continent, completely free of charge – a unique option within the tracking system.  All maintenance and upgrades are included in the set costs and general servicing can be carried out remotely from  The Crosland Company offices, with no downtime for either the system or the vehicle.

The European mapping packages, which include detailed street maps, AA mapping for all roads in the UK and standard road atlas’s for the rest of Europe, are updated regularly at no cost.  The on-site PC systems are supplied with a twelve month warranty package.  The back-up service is available 24 hours a day and includes a monitoring system which offers complete vehicle monitoring over weekends by The Crosland Company office.
